Blue Star Jets based its name from the movie Wall Street

By David Castillo

Blue Star Jets is a real private jet company, not just a fictional entity in the movie Wall Street.

However, there is a connection between the two. Company founders Todd Rome and Ricky Sitomer titled the company based on the 1987 movie.

In the film, Michael Douglas stars as a Gordon Gekko, a corporate raider who wanted the commanding share of the airline Blue Star.

“In an era where private jet travel became accessible to the world’s business and jetset elite, Blue Star Jets was the obvious name to choose in homage to Wall Street,” commented Rome, when he was asked about the basis of the company’s name.

A sequel to the movie was recently premiered by Oliver Stone during the Cannes Film Festival. “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” is a much anticipated movie that will feature cameos from true jet setters, including Warren Buffet and Graydon Carter. Michael Douglas reprises his role, and he will be joined by Shia LaBeouf.
